Not exactly cel-shading news, but I got a job as a character artist for a company called Doppelganger (www.doppelganger.com) doing mostly clothing right now. The cool thing about our game is that it is celshaded :) If you want to check it out go here:

I successfully upgraded the security of the forum to block spammers from posting. It went much quicker than I anticipated which means that the forum is officially back online.

Stupid Spammers

Sorry guys, but I have to shutdown the forum for a bit. It has become infested with spammers that have nothing to say about cel-shading or non photorealistic rendering.
After I clean up the forum I will install some security features to try and keep this from happening further. Hopefully I will have the forum back within the next few weeks.

More Downloads Than Ever

The last time I had this site working smoothly was over a year ago. Now that I've gotten everything going again I've added *new* content to the downloads. Next on the list is to finish uploading the images I have for the gallery... which is quite a few.

I spent an hour in the database switching all references to my old user ID to the new and correct one. Looks like all the threads in the forum are now showing up :) Let's start adding some new stuff!

Oops, I Did it Again...

Okay, I just finished posting the last message when I noticed like 3 more things that were broken and need fixing. *Sigh* it seems my work is never done. I fixed the easy one, the logo was failing to show up on some pages so that was easy.
The second problem I discovered is that several threads are failing to display in the forum. I think this is because I kept messing with the database entry for my admin account under which I created those threads. I'm really tired of just fixing stuff, but I'll try to fix this soon.

New Improvements

I just finished working on some of the scripts that run CelShading.com like the downloader script (now written in PHP) and the link index.
So I think that's it as far as functionality goes. If there is a feature you'd like to see integrated with the site (like a calendar maybe?) then let me know. Otherwise it's time to start adding more content.
Speaking of adding content, I finished re-adding the downloads I used to have so now we are ready to move forward. I plan on adding many more videos to the downloads. In addition I have a slew of character sheets to add to the gallery, not to mention cel-shaded inspiration... stay tuned!

I was feeling beaten down, no one was visiting the site except spammers and hackers, the site was broken and getting out of date... Then I received an e-mail from Eric.
At first Eric was just letting me know that yet another section of the site was broken. "Just great," I thought to myself "I don't have time to work on something that no one will ever use." I replied to Eric and said as much, to which he responded "I hope you can find the time...I can see Celshading.com has a lot of potential." You know what? He's right, Celshading.com does have potential! So I found the time and have been busily making the fixes to the site, all it took was a little encouragement. Thanks Eric.

Hacked!

Well our brand new server that I was so excited about was hacked. It became so dirty and infiltrated with scum that we had to shutdown the entire thing and closedown our hosting :(
It's taken a while, but now I've got everything back and hosted on a shared server that should prove to be more secure. I can finnaly get back to adding some fresh content to the site.

Hooray! It's back to school time and not a minute too soon. I was starting to get pretty bored. Here is a look at my schedule this semester:

Did you notice the new "Start Here" graphic? The graphic above links to the new about page I added to help everybody figure out what to do here at Cyber Coalition a little faster. I also created a sitemap page so that all of the web pages will get spidered by google more easily. Hopefully this will attract more visitors :)

Gallery is Rocking!

Today I borrowed a friends scanner and started digitizing some artwork and yes the gallery works. It's actually a lot of fun to add pictures so why don't you guys try it? Be sure to click the "Login to Gallery" button on the subnavbar before you try to upload. I still need to format the gallery pages somewhat so they look nicer, but that won't stop me from adding more pics. Speaking of formatting content pages... I finished the links section.

I spent some time modifying the layout of the Downloads section, it looks a little prettier now. Tonight I added quite a few links into the link index. While doing so I noticed several formatting errors with how the links were being displayed and am currently working on fixing them.

I want to thank those of you who have contributed so far to Cyber Coalition, let's keep it going! I'm going to start archiving the Tutorials that we accumulate here into the download section. So as I get the time I want to convert the tutorials to .pdf files so we will always have a hard copy. Linking to offsite tutorials is a good start, but we will still face the same problem of missing resources if that site goes down.

I decided to upload a few avatars to the forum. So far I have added: Blame!, Chobbits, Cowboy Bebop, Fooly Cooly, Full Metal Alchemist, and Trigun. If you would like me to add a set of avatars let me know what they are. I want to stick with a theme of avatars all from animated or comic series'.

Cost of membership to Cyber Coaltion

Due to the nature of the system I'm using to run Cyber Coalition, I must associate a cost for membership. What this means is that all users will get a FREE one(1) day trial after which you will be promted to subscribe. Memberships are currently set at $12 per year... that's just $1 a month! If you still can't afford to pay you can fill out a request form and politely ask for FREE activation.

I added a few new HowTo's into the forum you can find them HERE. They focus on modifying your user webpages. In case you didn't realize when you sign up you get a website (you.CelShading.com) with email (you@CelShading.com). These HowTo's will get you started on customizing them.
